Determining Appropriate Reading Level
These documents guide you through the process of using Microsoft Word to find reading Flesch-Kincaid reading levels of passages. It also explains how to access the Lexile Levels Online service to determine the appropriate reading level on that scale.

The Lexile Framework for Reading Reading Website
The Lexile Framework for Reading is widely adopted approach for measuring reader ability and text difficulty. Lexile measures put readers and reading material on the same scale. Lexiles tie day-to-day classroom instruction to high-stakes tests and everyday books and articles, encouraging reading progress.
