EETT ARRA Competitive Grant Update
The CDE received 188 EETT ARRA competitive grant applications. The applications are being read the last week of October and award notifications will follow in late November/early December. The application deadline for this completive grant was October 15, 2009. There were approximately 440 eligible districts and charter schools in California, applying for nearly $34 M in federal education technology dollars.
The districts and charter schools had five weeks to write their application for this one-time technology education funding. The EETT ARRA request for application (RFA) was similar to the EETT-C round 8 application process that was released earlier this year.
The primary goal of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Enhancing Education Through Technology Competitive (EETT C) grant program (2009 -2011) is to improve student achievement of the state content standards and technology literacy in grades four through eight with expanded access to technology, electronic resources, professional development, and enhanced communications. The four guiding principles for use of ARRA funds include: (a) spend funds quickly to save and create jobs; (b) improve student achievement through school improvement and reform. ARRA funds should be used to improve student achievement; (c) ensure transparency, reporting, and accountability; and (d) invest one-time ARRA funds thoughtfully to minimize the impact of the limited life of these funds
